Notre Dame Spiritual Center Hosts Meetings and Retreats for Businesses, Organizations and Groups

The Notre Dame Spiritual Center, atop Shaker Hill in Alfred, offers a peaceful and comfortable setting for groups seeking a place to hold retreats, meetings or other events.

The Spiritual Center is part of York County Shelter Programs’ campus. Our Shaker Hill neighbors, the Brothers of Christian Instruction, opened the center in 1981.

The center is used for:

·        Spiritual retreats for activities such as yoga, meditation and mindfulness

·        Church groups of all faiths

·        Recovery groups

·        Crafting retreats

·        Private retreats

·        Classes and workshops

·        Business and organizational meetings and conferences

·        Special events – birthdays, anniversaries, showers, reunions

Guests may book our facilities for a few hours, a weekend or a week. We have accommodations for up to 85 overnight guests; we offer affordable on-site dining options, featuring customized meal plans.

The Notre Dame Spiritual Center is nestled among 300 acres of natural beauty, with woods and trails nearby. This site is also historic, as it was once home to a Shaker community. The Alfred Shaker Museum is just a few minutes’ walk from the center.

Other highlights of our location: we are just a few miles from Bunganut Lake, and less than 40 minutes to southern Maine beaches. The Portland jetport is just 45 minutes away.
