York County Shelter Programs Offers Job Skills Training
Part of our mission of helping people who find themselves homeless is to help with job training skills.
We have two primary job-training sites. Our Maintenance Job Training Program teaches people basic carpentry, remodeling and maintenance skills. Residents work with our maintenance team.
Our Food Services Job Training Program offers a wide range of opportunities. People learn about food prep and food service at the kitchen facilities at Henry Hall, where we prepare daily meals for residents, handle catering jobs, provide meals for the Notre Dame Spiritual Center retreat visitors and cook for about 40 guests at our seasonal Mama Mia dinners. We also have a seasonal bakery, Shaker Hill Bakery, where we make a variety of breads and pastries, from August through November.
